Ebay conundrum...

I was following a XT mech on ebay which finished today.

I emailed the seller near the beginning or the week to see if he would sell early as I really wanted it for this weekend and he came up with a high price (as you would expect I guess)

I decided to leave it and bid normally and having just checked I won the auction for far less than that price, in fact less than they usually go for. Good result..... or so I thought.....

I have now received a cancel transaction notice with no personal message/explaination, just a standard heading that the seller cant find the item.

Now I find it rather odd that the seller didn't even bother with an apologetic message and can't help feeling a bit suspicious. After all it was there a week ago when he took a pic for the auction and most people would keep things aside when selling.

How would you guys deal with this? I know that it's annoying when something sells for less than normal but thats why you have start prices and auction reserves.... am I right to be suspicious about this?

How would you guys deal with it?

He's probably pissed off that it didn't go for what he expected.

Not sure there's anything you can do except take it on the chin and keep looking.

You could, possibly, contact ebay airing your concerns but I don't think they can force him to sell to you.

There's a complaint procedure for non-selling seller, isn't there?

Follow that and negative feedback, especially with no decent and polite explanation.

= greedy

happened to me the other week with a cycle rack up the road from me, I won it for a penny, and I got a load of sarcastic messages from the seller, so I gave up on that one

if you're a seller and not prepared to let things go if they sell for a low price, then don't list it in the first place, IMO :x

jughead ?

are you the one for
£20 +3.75

or the identical one (same pic ;)) for
£11.51 +3.75 ?

Nah, for £6.50 & delivery, just one version of the sale!

I just messaged the guy to give him until monday to 'find' it before leaving negative feedback. Don't hold out much hope, but maybe making it clear I will leave neg feedback will change his mind.

Ah £9.60 (I always include delivery in the price as that give an RetroBike and CRC/Merlincycles/wiggle) equivalent
12-28's the buy under a different name and sell under 12-28 bike stripper. Has some good stuff though, but it's fun finding the actual bike it came from.
