bet that the LBS told he the old AMP fork is scrap and he had to buy a "better" new one

Wouldn't surprise me

A lot of bike shops seem to have the mentality that anything pre-2008 is outdated, and anything before 2000 might as well just go to the tip!

Very nice! Much prefer them in the team yellow to the red. Shame he doesn't post otherwise I'd be tempted....

+1

Never let the fact that someone doesn't post put you off... There's almost always a Retrobiker nearby who can pick it up, as mentioned above :)

I was excited till I saw it was a 2nd gen Al frame.

really, no True Temper OX

didnt realised that on first sight, as pics. are crap, but now when you said that, its obvious, that the tubes are thicker - well spotted :)

I believe that this is a 1995 Edge, made of Easton Elite HBO. All the 1995 Edges I have seen are yellow, notwithstanding what the catalogue says. The 1993 The Edge was made of steel, Tange Superlight, the 1994 The Edge out of Easton Program, the forerunner of Elite. All had AMP rear ends, this being the one with the more sophisticated dropouts etc, and the air shock.

Although it may be sacriligious to say so on a site where older = more desirable, I would guess that Rocky made progress with the design each year and the 1995 was the best of the line. The only downside being that it lost its The and was just a plain old Edge.

IMO, steel (and titanium) are not suitable materials for full-suspension frames.
