Twice recently buyers have complained about not getting their items on time, the first left me neutral feedback even though it was despatched and delivered within my stated times in the listing :roll:
The second won an item on Saturday evening which stated a despatch time of 3 working days, so this morning he sends me a snotty message asking where his item was :? :roll:

There are definately more idiots on eBay these days. Generally now I always check a sellers feedback out fully and try to buy from traders rather than individuals, when it comes to selling though I think they should add an "idiot filter" when you create your listing.

I think the thing with buyers and, say, delivery times, is that many buying on the internet, these days, buy stuff and often receive it pretty quickly - and often that sets the expectation.

Things that then differ from the norm, even if sounding completely reasonable, given the lead times listed, may seem to some as still being worse than they'd expect.

We can say that they're idiots for not reading / comprehending given lead times, and for sure there's probably a degree of that - but also, I think on the whole, traders / sellers do need to realise that in general, things have sped up somewhat, as a generalism, and if things are outside of that, some will always moan and mither.

Feedback is misleading.

I have over 1300 positives, yet I have 9 negatives. My negatives are all from guys who either sell the same product, or who didn't read, and thought they were on to something expensive for peanuts.

I even send all my customers a free gift, yet few ever acknowledge it.

I sell one product mainly, so I struggle to understand how over a thousand folks can be delighted, yet 9 folks be angry.

That's humans for you.

I get that - and often I've seen sellers say that in feedback - that their significant numbers of positives must surely mean that any whingers are unreasonable.

Often, though, when I read it in sellers feedback, and look at the negatives, they sound bombastic and self-satisfied - I'm not saying that's you, there, just I can't recall ever reading similar comments in peoples' feedback, and not reaching that conclusion - and yes, that mostly discourages me from buying from them - generally, I tend to think it's not worth the potential hassle.

As a buyer, now, although feedback and percentages matter, I tend to all favour the "Top rated seller" status - then look at the feedback, when I'm buying - even if it means paying slightly more.

I could be wrong, but any monies paid in to Paypal are generally unavailable for a period of time, and withdrawals are also generally slow.

For this reason, refunds are always available for a seller to make within the same period, as it hasn't gone anywhere due to Paypals Buyer Protection Scheme.

The problem comes with buyers expecting refunds, and expecting to keep the item, not to mention those that take advantage of the said scheme, dishonestly.

i dont sell much on ebay, but from recollection money is available immediately, i think also there is a way of paying cash into your account quickly but you have to pay paypal a fee suprise suprise. i might be wrong it just seems very iffy

The Paypal 'hold' system, as far as I remember, only holds the funds when the account selling is unverified or new, or such.

Anyhoo, I have to wait until the 26th before they are taking it further. Seller still claiming he is going to refund as soon as he has funds.

Ebay is still the easiest place to get rid of lots of different smaller things.

We are moving soon, and it will be an Ebay bonanza for a few months. Records, books, toys, clothes, hobby items, household items, tools, bikes.

Bikes I said, yes bikes!

I reckon a couple of thousand items easily.

Only then will I get an updated view on the whole Ebay experience that stacks up to something.

Certainly seems to have lost some of the mojo it had back in the day.

What we need is RetroBay. Honest people selling goods at 1990s prices.
