last week i bought this........

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT

it arrived today and i was expecting some work ahead of me.....

to my horror after one look at it it's been in a fire  the cables are melted to the frame and the paint on the left side of the bike is melted along with the stantions , if you look at the pictures you can see the burn marks on the uppers on the forks and as clear as day on the rims (i thought it was just dirt or oil or something)

now the listing says no returns and i've just pm'd the seller saying that i know the bikes been in a fire and i want to return it , whats my chances ? where do i stand ?

thanks in advance...............

Just say the seller never mentioned it was fire damaged in the listing, and start a dispute.

Bloody Ebay. Full of chancers. That's why I buy all my stuff here instead.

it doesn't say it was in a fire, i would have though that is a good place to start. surely that is miss selling something by not giving full information.

what a git.

that aint the reason you got rid of your marin IS IT  hope it works out mate that place is gettin soooo bad

shit eck

do the e-bay dispute thing
dunno if that automaticaly kicks in on pay pal ,check

suppose we could all do the ask the seller a question
whereby you and a load of mates bombard him with questions
about the item's condition ,but keep it legal

i had a small conversation with the seller............

hi , bike arrived today and is in need of a little more than some tlc as it's been in a fire and all the bearings in the rear of the frame are half melted , the fork stanchons are stained/tarnished and both seals are leaking due to fire damage too .

both wheels are covered in soot and the rear had been burnt , i don't need to ask what happened to all the cables as there all melted all over the frame which has had most of it's paint burnt off at the seat stay down to the main tube.

sadly theres no way i'd of pay'd even your starting bid of £99 if you had listed the bike as fire damaged.....

therefor i'd like to return your bike as it's no good to me the way it is and i never set out to buy a bike that had benn half melted , sorry

his reply...........

the bike was not in a fire at all, however it was in my garage when a car caught fire in front of the garage, as i described it needed tlc and has been sat around for a while now, the 24/7 crank alone is worth what you paid, i clearly put the frame will need stripping, i was gonna rebuild it but i bought another now, its was sold as i said in need of tlc and stripping not just a clean as for some reason that is what you think, not at any point in the description have i said its all in good condition and a working condition,

my reply...............

hi , i was'nt expecting a ready to use bike by any means but to not mention that the bike was half melted isnt really fair and was'nt in the discription hence why i bought it .

there is no doubt the alloy frame has been weakened by the heat just like the rear wheel has been , the frame is only fit for a wall or a skip .

the forks are totaly knackered too , the stanchons are porous (full of small holes where they have been on fire) and have burn marks all over them including what used to be the front brake cable .

i really can't see anything in your listing saying fire damaged or has been exposed to fire so your listing was'nt accurate or even close to the truth of the condition of the bike.

will you please refund me and i'll send your bike back ?

i don't think this guy wants his bike back

some pics of the so called needs some tlc frame

heres the side the seller did'nt want you to see..........

the forks used to have the rubber bits to stop them denting the frame , they are melted right into them , the cables burnt right into the stantions too

think i'll have a leg to stand on here ?

Don't start arguing with him, or even discussing it. You won't , by his previous answers, get anywhere. Just tell him of your intention to open a paypal dispute and leave negative feedback, if he doesn't refund your money in full (inc postage).
It takes a while, but you should get your money back. There are new, quicker procedures or so I hear.
