right. ive got my brakes sorted . now i want to tackle the worng tyres situation. i tend to ride alot of road and dirt so need somthing that doesnt sound like a tank going down the road. im using new skool specialized fasttrack tyres front and rear... i think they are 2.0's but they are to big for the frame and bigger than i need. any reccomendations guys? pref old skool but still obtainable. or new skool with old skool feel... want to get the bike looking as period as poss :)

I've found the Tioga Farmer John's Nephews on my 1991 Karakoram Elite to be great tyres on the road and on relatively dry trails. They're not too bad when it gets a bit muddy too, though the Karakoram is only really allowed out in the dry weather nowadays.

You do still see these tyres for sale on the bay every now and then.

i've just got a set of the black porcs. light too.

i have a farmer john's nephew for sale too. pm me if you are interested.

Neill. I'm with you on the porcs. Good in a straight line but rubbish round the corners. And don't even bother with them if it's muddy.
The best retro rubber for me would be good old Zmax. They do seem quite expensive when they are available now though.

onza porcs

man,

fitted a set of onza porcs up on the new skool cannondale prophet, just for the banter! man they were poor! mud.. side sidways action on the down bits and reduced to walk the ups!

jeff at first flight bikes can be worth a look! he's state side though
so theres a wait to get!

Does anyone have a definative list of decent early 90's tyres?

I'm struggling to remember the name of the ones I had, and I'd ideally like to a) remember and b) buy some more.

Cheers Bri
