E-Stay advantages

I never had one but was always quite keen on them, I remember drooling over an Overburys with some sort of stripy paint job but never being able to afford one. Just wondering what if any are the advantages of an e-stay as opposed to the standard rear triangle ?

You can convert it to belt drive without the need to cut your frame :)

And more seriously... BITD one of the advertised advantages was that it has no chainsuck. And the design would make short chainstays possible, making the frame ideal for climbing.

Is added weight considered an advantage? :P

Yes, when you go downhill :)

And uphill for rear end grip, yes??

I'm crap at riding uphills, but the estays I've ridden have definitely made things feel easier for me...

I always thought the benefit was like the beast of the east, overburys etc in that they had a higher bb to allow for better clearance off road?

I'm unlikely to ever own one because I feel I'm to big and to weighty for the age and welds of bikes of that age..probably totally incorrect but that's my worry
