E-Stay advantages

Now that is a fine plan!

I think it might be the height of the tyre that causes most trouble, I had 3.0/2.5 tyres on 24" rims in a 26" frame and it rode an absolute treat, very enjoyable 8) means you're stuck with discs though, or some kind of adapter. With tyres like those you might be anyway as they're possibly too big to fit Vs around, maybe a long armed canti at a very wide angle but then heel clearance is a problem.

Estay frames with disc mounts ... can't bring any to mind, think the extra leverage of discs at the dropouts is generally too much for them. That's what killed off production of the fantastic Scott thermoplastic thingy that I loved, just couldn't mount discs to it :(

Lots of trouble in store, how far are you prepared/set up to mod things?

At the other end you'll need a bit of height on the fork crown so will want to be a sus-corrected frame to avoid wheelbarrowing it too.

That means late nineties estay frame ideally with disc mounts, any ideas folks?

Just thought, Rampage had a Hope brake arm adapter thing for sale, that might be an option.

Interesting.
I hadnt considered the brakes!

You might need that arm then!

You never know your luck though, it might all squeeze in if you're lucky...

Must be the jumble frame? It's rubbing the back of the seat tube and catching the front mech that I'd be most wary of. Have a fat 2.4 if you want it for experimenting with?

Yes the polished alpinestars. I'm about to polish it properly!
I have another torque arm :p
What sort of height is your 2.4 tyre? Similar to the width?

I've got another mounted, I'll measure the overall height, then you can halve and check it against your forks...

Quick snack and I'll get back to you!

For the brakes, how about Magura HS33s ? You can lengthen the hose for clearance And they sit quite small...

Good thinking!

Think I might have a spare brace I can look at

For a 2.4 Conti Mountain King it's 61mm across the tread and a total 675mm tall, so you'll need 340mm between dropout and crown as an absolute minimum. Full width is only 15-20mm below the maximum diameter, so 320mm from the drop out give or take.

2.35 Nevegal is within a few thou' too, that's on a much wider rim though.

Shame I've nothing bigger at the mo but hopefully that'll be some sort of starting point for the will it/won't it!

Welcome to grab this spare tyre (think it's scrap anyway) if you're out&about, plenty of places to stash it here if you let me know when. Or a brew if I'm home, obviously!
