OK, I managed to work out that with the death of Dynatech in 1995, the Mtrax Ti 3000 and Ti 4000 got UGLI forks with steel or ti blades, respectively.
Looking at the catalogues, now I understand why Raleigh's special products flopped after the mid 90s. The bikes were actually pretty good, but the way they were marketed was awful. I can vaguely recall looking at the 94 and 95 M Trax brochures at the time, hoping to see something awesome to outdo the 94 or 93 Dynatech ranges, but it was all quite unappealing to somebody who already had a slight idea of what other brands were doing. Major turn-offs were:
* The Raleigh head badge associated the range with the gas-pipe bikes at the bottom of the range.
* The catalogue's bullet points said weird or meaningless things.
* The riders depicted in the brochures were kitted out in really naff looking clothes, glasses and helmets.
* The name M Trax was much less cool than Dynatech, and the model names were boring and ludicrous (might as well have started the number from one trillion instead of 1000).
* Despite the nice light frames, somehow they still managed to be a bit overweight compared to contemporary welded steel frames at the same price point, probably due to steel bars, stems, seatposts and bar ends (?)
There were plenty of good points, though, which I probably don't have to detail.
