Dyna-Tech MT4

well i finally pulled my finger out and got the build finished today. i know its not completely retro but it's usable, feels fairly light and i can alwasy buy retro bits for it as and when i feel the need.

Like what you've done with this. As you say it's not totally retro, but fully useable. It will be interesting to see how it handles with those forks, as the frame was designed for 63mm (at most) travel forks, but if I was being really critical of my Raleigh, I'd say the head tube angle is too steep. Those forks will certainly slacken this angle.

Ive only ridden it on the road so far, but it seems ok. I can drop them from 100mm down to 80mm. But see how it goes for now and maybe when funds allow i will swap to something like a mag 21 or an RC35, maybe even a rigid fork.

It took a while getting used to flat bars and a long stem. Ive been riding with a 50mm stem and risers for so long.

Im happy with it for now :)
 
well talk about a whirlwind romance, unfortunately I need to raise some cash so this is now in bits and will be listed on the bay tomorrow :cry:

Yes unfortunately these old frames like the MT4 are not designed for new suspension forks which are too long. I put 1997 Judy SL forks on my MT4 and it ruins the handling :( I had to put the original rigid forks back on.
