I can see me purchasing one of the above in the very near future,
BUT which system???????
I will be running surround sound.

Your thoughts chaps & chapesses :D

.

Get a Ps3, cheap as chips and plays Blu-ray no probs. The difference between DVD and Blu-ray visually is amazing just watch Avatar in HD you'll see what I mean. Plus the advantage of owning a kickass games console to boot.

ps 3 is a interweb thingy too plus abig ol mp3 player/streamer and if ya broadband is quick it hs bbc iplayer ,itv and c4 on demand plus the one that 5 does...does loys of other things too...

Thanks mate I dont play games at all, I know Ive got a small collection of DVD but Im willing to replace my favourite film with Blu-Ray if its that much better.

It will be HD compared with SD for "normal" DVDs.

Depending on what you're viewing them on, you may not currently see much difference, but if you've got a HD TV, then you should notice a difference.

It is alot better blu ray, if you get one i can send you aload of films up to borrow and just send back when finished with them

Will depend on what screen you are using to view them on. A 40" HD screen and you will notice the difference in picture quality.

Considering you can pick up a blu-ray player for £100 or less I would get one regardless. They still play DVD's after all, sometimes upscaling them as well to increase the picture quality.
