Chin up, passiflora. We all feel like this sometimes. Hope you're over it soon.

If you want a good laugh, search YouTube for a film called 'Joe's Apartment'. Pant-wetter!!

get up,go out on a bike, feel the sun absorbing into your body and smile.this is gonna sound harsh but coming from experience the best and only reliable motivation and self esteam lifter is to do something constructive and/or do something positive.do something thay makes you smile and you can look forward to doing again, the biggest and hardest push is the first and finally youll get into the swing of things again.

i dont know fully your personal situation etc but fully appreciate and to a point understand were your at,chin up,think positive, stay away from as much negative stuff and try to enjoy things, dont look at the bigger picture and admire the smaller, simpler things in life.

hope this helps, sorry if not and pm me if you need a "outsider" chat,
chris .

Having worked in Milton Keynes I can see how people are affected like this. Go outside. Keep going outside. Walk, cycle, move around.

Avoid three things:

Not going outside
Driving
Staying in bed
Roundabouts

OK that's four :P

Really

Depression is a disease, not a state of mind, you cannot just pull yourself together, think happy thoughts and it'll go away.

Feeling for you fella, hope the black dogs go off cat chasing and leave you alone

Indeed.

And sometimes it helps if you can chase the black dogs away rather than let them knaw at yr ankles.....and sometimes its other scary beasts, for which assistance must be summoned.

Really.

how do you diy diagnose depression?
isnt it now believed to be heredetary?
Certain mental illnesses can be hereditary.. bipolar for one..

DIY diagnosis is not possible.. professional diagnosis is bloody difficult and can take years...

Symptoms can be subjective on the part of the pdoc, there seems to be no hard and fast rules.

Have ot agree, you half way to getting better by breaking the cycle - so get on a bike and go ride, hit those hills like they are your problems, each one climbed, is one less brick in the wall, if money is also a problem, try some free stuff, like libraries, they are a wealth nowadays, and mostly free, oh and a good support of friends helps, but definitely you have to make that move, i know ive hit depression a few times, (always crept up on me in different ways) believe in yourself.
