down tube shifters boss to clamp mount

Hi I have a set of Sachs Aris new success shifters that came off a bike with brazed on bosses, I would like to fit them to a bike without bosses so need a clamp on mount. Could I strip a set of cheap shimano d/t shifters for the clamp? I have seen the modern cnc aluminium ones but feel it would look out of place on a 80's french road bike

Yes you can use the clamps from Shimano or pretty any other clamp-on shifter. There are some thread differences though.

I was hoping to use the original mounting bracket from the frame I am using (MBK mirage) as it is rather unusual, it slots in to a pocket on the back of the down tube, unfortunately the mount for the shift levers are different
