Does every man cave have a singlespeeder?

8 bikes, of which 2 singlespeed and one dual speed :D don't cost much to set up if you don't want to, thing is just to try it. I was very skeptical at first, but in the right circumstances they are great fun - but they're not for every occasion!

Woops  (edit) Orange71 hit the nail on the head there, they're definately not for every occasion and believe me that's hard for me to say given I was a SS zealot for quite some time. Only rode SS no matter where I was but getting back on a geared bike really opened my eyes again; faster on the flat, faster on the downs, faster on the ups.....but and it's a big but there's something that's just so right about SS sometimes. When you're in the mood and the terrains on your side they are indeed...fun!

My two are the ubiquitous Inbred and a fixie for road duties.

Not unless you include this one although its not actually mine! I do have a fixed gear road bike though.

Well, there are currently four bikes in my workshop/store - one is my wife's (with gears of course.... ) , the other three are mine and of those, two are singlespeeds.
The one with gears gets ridden the least too.

My SS is for work only and I don't have much of a commute. I am just lazy and don't want to maintain all the bits. Looks cool as well IMO. Not sure I would ever put gears back on it - my other bikes have those.

Not sure I would ever want to take it seriously off road, but might remove the bashguard, fit a 32T to compliment the 42T and run it as a double to get me to the hills and see what all the fuss is about.

4 bikes 3 of which are Singlespeeds!

And no they're not the cause of my nackered back! Well only a bit!

Al. :D

ps I have 2 man caves, yes i am spoiled rotten and a bit of a tart,so i'm told.

Mine has, the Sinister for fun street/dirt riding with my son on his BMX. I love it and have assembled the bits to convert one of the retro frames too.

I do feel like I'm going full circle on this. The commuter bikes in my youth were all single speed, and I lived 10km from school. In fact , I never touched gears until I bought my first MTB back in 89.

Enjoy!!

6 fully built bikes = no singlespeeds

1 frame and forks = no plans to go singlespeed

1 frame on its way = still no plans to go singlespeed

I'm running a singlespeed at the moment and tbh its great for mud riding,I run discs on it and it is a specific ss frame so has huge tyre clearance. Its also really good fun in the woods,no chainslap! Will be running it all winter including the Dalby ride.So far lovin it but wouldn't if I was somewhere really hilly!
I think the singlesped thing is very Marmite, you need to try it a least once though.
