I've just discovered that even though my work isn't recognizing it as a holiday some of the staff belong to a union that does so they'll get overtime for working that day. The rest of us won't :x

I doubt that is legal.

I wouldnt worry about it too much, the over-time should just about cover their union subs.

I doubt that is legal.

Perfectly legal in my business. The people with the different union are short term contract staff and not permanent staff.

I see, they are on a different contract. Understand now. Still sucks, it seems pretty random amongst my friends, some are getting the day off, some are not.
