Do you have a torque wrench

When I turn 40 I'll buy a couple of Snap-On torque wrenches, I've got 9 years to save up!

That's the one, I've "borrowed" my dad's.

i have a snap on one i bought for my last job, I've used it probably 10 times in 5 years! I should sell it but the minute i do, i'll get a run of Porcshes in work and be regretting it.

Thing that made me ask about them is a few reports over the interweb of Thomson stems cracking because of being incorrectly torqued..

And my propensity to be heavy handed

Dont forget peps if using a (calibrated ?) torque wrench that figures that you should use rely on the fastner being dry,i.e. No lubricant. Rule of thumb is to half the torque value if using lub.

IMO the snap on ones aren't very good, vague click and not calibrated in Nm. Norbar are far superior even Britool are better.

All the Thomson torques appear to be 5.5Nm, I'd go for the Ritchey tool.

Mountain biker's universal torque setting: Tighten until threads _just_ strip, then back off 1/8 turn.
