That wouldn't help, But i've seen thompson front plates do an Onza HO and crack before they're even out of the box.
And although mine were (yes that's meant to be plural for the grammar freaks) denied warranty (because i'd obviousy abused it?) the importer has a ready supply of replacement parts - Funny as they'd never seen it before....

Needless to say I'm on Hope stems -31.8 and recycled Syncros ones -25.4

You shouldn't use a torque bar for this purpose.
