Do Konas have matching serials on fork steerer tube and frame?

Having been in the shed trying to strip the paint of two pairs of forks partly successfully and unsuccessfully (with off the shelf gel stripper - another thread in itself I'm sure!) I noted the serial stamped on the P2 fork. It came with a 91 Explosif. It has, underneath black overspray, the correct decal. It says CM/CM on the steerer. I thought I'd see if it matched the frame. It does not.

I'd have expected them to match if there's a serial on the steerer. Should they? I thought bugger, if they're different, perhaps the OG pair got trashed/ check again for top-tube damage from a front-ender but all is fine.

Fork:
183F366
Frame:
F1041677

I also noted how wonkily-applied the Prestige decal is - it didn't seem clear-coated, I thought perhaps applied later but sure enough the dark purple shadow underneath matches the position. Laughably wonkily-applied!

p.s. some heavy-duty remover ordered from Ebay that has good reviews. I hope it's like the old Nitromors...

Which paint stripper did you end up ordering?
Any recommendations would be appreciated, thank you!
