Do any SPD models have float?

Afraid not.

They don't use SPD cleats, but they do use the same bolt centres and threads, soi are compleltely interchangeable. Think it was only the very first time pedals/cleats that used a different bolt centre, and they've long since been discontinued (probably 20 years ago)

So now, they ALL use SPD bolt centres. And all of them allow you to walk in the shoes, except a couple of oddballs which are a bit awkward (Frogs and Bebop from memory)

Thanks, that was actually what I meant. I've ordered some old ATAC Aliums to give them a try.

I keep my spds pretty loose and theres plenty of float allowing for comfortable knees.

That's what I find.
