did shimano make frame parts?

i have a 89 cb spectre with a reynolds 501 frame that i am re-storing. whilst stripping the paint off i noticed that the rear drop outs have shimano stamped on them and a part number of fm- some thing or other..
never seen them before. can any one shed any light on them...

I think that they made dropouts, but not lugs.

Same here - sold a frame (the fork) a while back that had Shimano drop-outs.

yes, they made rear and front drop outs and i think brake bosses too. suntour did that too.

on a slight tangent but related to the same bike, the cable guide under the bottom bracket is riveted on! bloody pain in the harris!
