For Sale Diamondback Axis TT PRO. Catalogue spec

Here is, with a heavy heart my completely catalogue spec 1995 Diamondback TT Pro. When I say catalogue I mean down to the chain, none of this “catalogue other than” business. Items have been replaced as below but as few as possible. It’s a 17 inch from centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube.

Frame is a Diamondback designed Sandvic 3/2.5 titanium with snake stays, water jet cut dropouts, ovalised seat tube at BB and alloy water bottle screws. Made in the USA.

The bikes spec seems like a bike that’s been modified but it was the very top of Diamondbacks range and they went all out! The Axis TT had a lower spec with none of the bling. This bike as a PRO has bits like the titanium Tri-align Avid cantis, Hugi 28/32 compact hubs & 217 rims, AC crank, Curve titanium skewers, AC titanium BB, Tioga chainring bolts, Ritchey titanium saddle etc. I have not seen another original bike in the 12 months I’ve been researching the bike across the world wide web…and I like a bit of research!

The bikes previous owner was an older chap that bought it from new and only used sparingly, with the tyres being slicks when I bought the bike. The sparingly statement is shown buy no chain wear, no chain slap on the chain stay, no chain ring wear, no cassette wear, no rim wear and the original brake blocks being basically unused. I kept one of the original pairs to show the use. I’ve not touched the frame other than a wipe down.

I had no idea how good the bike was when I drove a good 7 hour round trip to pick it up. The more I cleaned it the more I realised it was a gem! I have a thread covering some of this on retrobike.

I’m my time with the bike I have replaced:

  • The hard and splitting brake blocks with NOS versions.
  • The grips with NOS versions.
  • The seatpost for the correct period replacement (good but not mint). There is a NOS one in America but I don’t like trump so I haven’t bought it.
  • The stem cap with a NOS
  • The brake levers with NOS as there was some rusting on the bolts.
  • The pedals with NOS Tioga Clipman SPDs (with new cleats)
  • The tyres with good condition Tioga Psychos
  • The forks have new elastomers and were serviced using the correct grease.
Other than that, the bikes been stripped, greased, new cables (kept the original outers).

The spec is as below with the catalogue spec next to it to show it is exactly as it was sold in 1995.

I do not want the bike to be stripped by myself or someone else as I don’t think it could be rebuilt and I think deserves to be kept together. The little sister to this bike named just the “TT” has parts that if stripped would be easy to replace, this one is not the case.

The bike comes with a few extras such as the 1995 brochure which is in mint condition and a right hand X-ray gripshift which is uncracked.
