Looks like mine is a 1991 then - in that case I agree with the previous reply that yours may well be a 1990 by the graphics and components.

Either way it is all a long time ago but only seems like yesterday!!

Cranks have OI marking making them September 1990.

Could be a 90 model - I'm not sure when the smokey / fade-y paintjobs dissappeared. Yours might have been the start of the solid paint colours.

Yours has to be later than 91, as it has top tube cable routing. 91 bikes had the gear cables down the downtube.

Well I did always think mine was a '92 model - just confused by the earlier comment that the red/black tiger stripe was a '91 colour (which my bike was before it was resprayed). Either way it is still a good ride - IMHO the '90's was the best era for bikes, when they still looked like bikes rather than motorbikes!

Some of the photos I've seen of that paint job on the bikes with the top tube cables, look like the red had a metallic or spangle about it - was yours a solid red with the tiger stripe?

Either way it is still a good ride - IMHO the '90's was the best era for bikes, when they still looked like bikes rather than motorbikes!

I have attached an advert from a July 1990 MBUK of an Apex, so I still think it is a '92.

black Biopace decals and the width of those cantis makes it around 1990/91.

I too am swinging towards 1991(low profile cantis), possibly a second colour or an import.

I think this as seen in a '92 MBUK bike test, an Ascent had triple top tube cables.
