Deore XT cassette body help

I've had lots of those freehubs to bits. Easy to service with tweezers and patience.

Made my tool out of a £1.99 el-cheepo 21mm (if i remember) 1/2 scocket and an angle grinder. Its done over 20 years service so far!

Random advice on the job.....

You will need to put the body in a vice to get it undone....they are tight! But keep an eye on the pressure..the body will shatter if you crush it!

Theres a lot of bearings in there, which you may as well replace and grease, tweezers help.

Don't overgrease the pawls....i use zx1 grease a really just a smear.

Dip all the bits in rust converter if you can and wipe over with acf50 or similar.

If the freehub has some wobble due to the races wearing, you can remove one of the wafer thin shims from the stack. This helps, but don't remove too many or it may start to bind up on the backing.

hope that helps.
