I understand where you are coming from and in my town many many friends have moved out becaue they are sick of being treated like a foreigner in their home town...we have several potugeuse friends and a couple of polish and latvian customers,and they are good honest hard working people but....and a big but......some nations have moved into our town en masse and you cant even walk down 'their' streets without being intimidated and not a single one speaks english unless prompted too......

The police will not ticket them when they park on the pavement etc but if one of us does we get ticketed within minutes.....they q in the banks and send thousands of pounds home every month and spend very little in our local economy and they contribute very little other than their coffee bars where locals are not welcome anyway....

There are areas of my town where locals will not even walk.....the polish sit outside bars in these areas absolutely bladdered on vodka so they can barely stand and shout abuse at any locals who walk past.....

Originally these people came here to work and went home in the winter but now they stay here all year....they throw litter in the streets and not in bins ....more so than the local chavs....

no racism here I have friends from all nationalities but the sort that tend to roll up here do not want to contribute but sit and scrounge and get drunk.....

Sorry but facts from someone on the frontline.....

And to clarify....under the previous excuse for a goverment there was no cap and they didnt even have figures for the amount of legal migrants let alone illegals.....a cap is now in place and I think it will be reduced year on year.... :?

There have been children working in the fields round here, and i bet they get paid crap money.

This isn't the immigrants' fault - but the farmer's. Unscrupulous employers are just as much to blame IMHO.

We have exactly the same problem in Denmark. Cheap labour organised outside the country and employed via agencies, undercutting the existing labour force and minimum wage and using some very dodgy workarounds to do so...

New EU legislation is apparently on the way to prevent this in the future. Let's see....

As long as there is demand from customers then it won't go away. So you have to ask yourself: who are these customers?

Yes dbmtb...you are totally correct there....I used to get a summer job fruit picking down the road from me for several years at minimum wage....not any longer as they now hire a gang and pay a gang master who then distributes the wages as he sees fit....he gets paid the minimum wage for all staff and then seperates the money essentially as he sees fit.....

I dont blame the farmer per se as he has overheads that rise each year and profits that drop due to supermarkets screwing him lower each year....it is a complex situation indeed :?

There is also the fact that huge amounts of british people leave the UK every year. Huge amounts of british people work abroad every year in the middle east.

And of course the large ex pat community in southern spain who move over, don't learn the language and live in british mini communities and don't work yet expect full healthcare, which will arrive as most of them are retired.

Of course the Daily Mail ignores these facts.

so then you are telling me that when I pulled up to deliver some stock to a friends shop and was ticketed but the warden had ignored three cars belonging to the portugeuse parked on the pavement in an urban clearway didnt happen :shock: :shock:

Do you live in a town with these problems then tazio....how many migrant workers or otherwise live in your town....figures would be nice....when you come and live here for the best part of 35 years then feel free to comment on the goings on in my town by all means......

I wouldnt presume to make insight into your town as I have never been there

when you have had gangs of drunken migrants denting your car and ripping plants from your garden and leaving rubbish and takeaways in the park infront of your house and stealing from your business etc etc etc....then you might change your mind...

At the risk of sounding insulting your posts are reading more and more like UKIP propaganda.

There are may immigrants where I live, in fact the area around my house has huge amounts of eastern european immigrants compared to the rest of the town as it is mainly tenements. There are Polish deli's on most of the main streets, Polish bookshops and now there is actually a Polish pub.

I don't recognize any of the things you describe as being commonplace in your town.
