I was shopping for a cassette for my Ritchey Ultra project and I found a 11x34. There isn't anything special about that gear range. I just want to make sure it will work before I buy it. I can see what other cassettes are out there. That one just seemed like a good option if it will work. Thanks.M700 is rated at 34t max cog with a 40t capacity (See Disraeli Gears). So 11 34 at the back will eat up 23 of that capacity, meaning that the difference between your highest and lowest front rings needs to be <= 17. In practice, you’ll prolly find there is some leeway.
If you are building an older bike with triple front rings, do you really need 11 as the smallest at the back? I’d be inclined to have a biggish low range cog and sacrifice a few teeth at the higher gear end.
