decisions, dyna tech or m-trax

Old School Hero
right, years ago i had an M-Trax Team Edition, of which i still have the frame, so i started looking for a suitable bike as a donor to re-build it and came across a Dyna Tech Diablo, which i have now bought.

upon closer inspection it seems that the frames are exactly the same, the m-trax frame was resprayed years ago so have no referance for decals. so do i build it up as a m-trax or as a dyna tech?

Dyna trax dilemma!

Neither mate, I had the same dilemma a few years back
-just leave the Heron badge on the front, strip the ti tubes back (because the lacquer WILL delaminate after a while!!) and just keep everyone guessing!
Good luck with the build, any snaps?

The blue one looks like a 1994 Dyna Tech frame.

Now I could be wrong here, but although they did run alongside each other for a while, I think that in 1995 the Dyna Tech sub brand was superceded by the M -Trax sub-brand.

By that point in time the main difference was that Dyna Tech had been the 'high end' part of the Raliegh Special Products Division.
When Dyna Tech was phased out, the M-Trax brand broadened it's range to take over.

All subject to confirmtion of course as I'm mostly speculating.

I guess it depends on how nostalgic you are and whether or not you'd like to bring your old bike back to life, sometimes it can be a real revelation, other times it can be a bit of a disappointment.
I'm biased here, but of the 2 frames I'd go for the (1994?) Dyna-Tech Diablo, it should have Ti top & down tubes, cro-mo rear triangle, and an alloy head tube, get a magnet out and check.
Have a look at the "Dyna-Tech Appreciation" thread on here and check the archive for more info on the M-Trax/Dyna-Tech lines as it still confuses me what came out when etc
Bikemeister2000 is the resident Raleigh guru though, so hopefully he will be along to offer more information.

Both frames are exactly the same (ie titanium main tubes) the frame i will be using at this point is the white m-trax one as it was painted a few years ago and looks alot tidier than the Dyna Tech one, the question was should it be stickered up as an M-Trax team edition or as it will have the UGLI forks etc should it be badged up as a dyna tech, as fundamentally there is no differance........

If it's an M-Trax frame then badge it up as such, otherwise you may as well stick some GT decals on there and call it a Zaskar
