Decent bottom brackets

I’d say get an expensive ti one if you need a real weight saving, otherwise something tange or shimano with a hollow spindle and alloy cups is surely fine at a fraction of the cost.

For real quality, longevity and a feeling of indestructible smugness, gotta be an old XT or modern Tange number with unsealed ball bearings. Perfection.

It’s for my 91 Xizang so want something fancy but as always it’s all about the money

Dependant on how quickly you need one I’ve just bought a bike to split which has a Royce BB. Not sure on length until I remove but it’s got middleburns so will be a decent length.

Am in no huge rush final week at work then off till mid January, so let me know when you can 👍🏻

Ok, this is me, but i cant fathom why un71....un72 isnt for considering at the moment.
The weight difference is next to nothing, maybe 50 grams and they are purchased for <20 bucks? Virtually maintenance free.
Have a poo before a ride, saves 300-400g right there.

Because they are not made anymore.
They'll be used and second?
Even the UN54/55s are hard to get now, at least last I looked.

They are stiffer than the Ti bottom brackets (I have quite a few Ti one), but Titanium is cool!

But weightweenies love a 30g saving and importantly, you've saved enough weight to carry another pack of Seabrook crisps with you :)

Good and bad news

I’ve just removed the Royce and it’s lovely.

Bad news is that it’s 113mm.
