No. Killing people reduces us (via our representatives in government) to the same level as the murderers we would be killing. They may be guilty of murder, but they are still people.

Then there is the issue of miscarriages of justice, which would become seriously irreversible.

Finally, those like the "suspects" in the Lee Rigby case would be granted that which they claim to want - martyrdom.

I am more than willing to push the button to give them matryrdom for financial reasons. It costs in the region of £ 100 k for a prisoner.

Why should my taxes go to keeping them alive when that money could be put to better purpose funding our hospitals?

Yes, the death penalty may be barabaric but makes finiacial sense.

I'm curious just how long before this thread is given a death sentence ?
But the inevitable truth in all this is this country will probably never entertain a death penalty.
I'd ship every peado & murderer to a remote island to just strive to survive, bear grylls style.
Don't see why my hard earned tax pounds should give this scum a roof over their head & a bed & regular food & drink.

I feel we need to take the high ground as a society.

We don't put people to death. That says something about us.

It separates us from regimes like those we criticize for summary executions and such.

I am very happy with that distinction.
