Death and how to contemplete it ???

I've had (and my mum as well) have had numerous experiences with ghosts, the most recent one involving a friends father who had died that night.

we were not here for an awfully long time, and we will not be here for an awfully long time.

But without consciousness there can be no concept of time, so why would 'not being around for a long time' bother anyone? you won't be aware of any passage of time.

If the human race *KNEW* for absolute fact that there was no afterlife of any description, I suspect most would live their lives with far more respect for others.

There are a certain amount of religions who believe they will reap their rewards for promoting their particular God's teachings in the afterlife. If this was known to NOT be so, I expect there would be, for one thing, less suicide bombers!

Something I've wondered about - when I die, will the rest of existence stop? For *my* experience, it no longer needs to exist, so why would it continue? As far as I (or any of you) know, everyone and everything is there just to complete my illusion of existence. it's exactly the same for the rest of you all, if you do indeed exist outside of the construct for me :)

sadly the reverse is so often true........like 3rd world countries where death is everywhere and human life has little value . Rich people in these countries see unwanted people like flies. I wish it was not the case.

Secret of long live as revealed by a 97 yrold chap who is immaculately turned out and seen out and about on a daily basis.

All very "Cogito ergo sum", eh.

Apart from those that have hypothesised that even thought doesn't prove that much - what if that was synthesised, just like everything else could be?

I suppose it could be read that way, in that quantum physics allows an infinite number of outcomes, we could all be living in our own little reality.

Anyway, why am I answering you? You don't exist! You should be worried now. If I forget your post, you stop existing. :?

Shows what I know, rather lamentably I thought you were being philosophical for a second, and going all Rene on retrobike's ass.
