Best year of dawes in my opinion. I had a Fat tubed 501 magnum "Fat Chance" Dawes in metallic yellow.

loved it!.

Once it's clean I'm going to spend some time trying to capture the paint in a decent photo from a proper camera. My phone just can't do it.
It really is stunning.

Couldn't resist a quick wipe over with a baby wipe tonight.
Glad I did, rear mech looks like it's beyond repair

Wiping it down with a baby wipe? Now that is love.

Mine get a wipe over with an old rag and some GT85..... if they are lucky.

The bike looks stunning, what an amazing find.

Baby wipes are great! Dirt cheap (less than 1p each if you buy value) and they get rid of everything except rust and dry old grease. I always use em in preference to a hose or bucket wash as no nasties get in your bearings

Whats the problem with the DX mech?

I was being facetious, I can not find a single scratch on either mech.
So far there's a small mark on the bars that looks like it'll polish out, some very minor cable rub on the sides of the head tube and the obvious decal damage. And that's it! Not a mark on the drive side chainstay!
To be fair my first raw nerve was discounted from new back in 1990as it came out of the box with identical decal damage, so who knows how long this one has been like it?
