Dave Yates Diablo - SOLD

The cull continues......

I've been putting this together on and off for so long that I've kind of lost interest in it to be honest..... So I'm offering her up for sale as frame, fork, headset and stem, or as the almost complete bike......

It's an 18" 1993 Dave Yates Diablo in flouro red 'blowjob' (Dave Yate's name for it not mine!) paintwork which is kind of stippled and very cool. Its columbus Crom OR tubing and is fillet brazed. Very good condition, I would say, it mas some marks and a few chips that have been touched in, but you'd have to hunt for them as the paint job hides it very well! It comes with the original Joe Murray Project two forks as supplied with these frames from new. I have the original sales receipt for this frame and fork set up too!

I would like £160 for the frame, forks, headset and stem......... Or £300 for the full bike, ,complete bar cables, a cable hanger for the headset, and some grips! Spec isn't totally period correct but pretty nice all the same....... XT mechs and combos (M737/8) LX chainset, Ritchey forcelite bars, XT hubs and campagnolo rims (M730), USE sus post, WTB saddle, WTB velociraptors or nos IRC mythos 1.95, Tioga surefoot pedals, suntour self energising canti's......

Photos are in the readers bikes section:

but updated ones will be posted soon, a few changes since these were taken but you'll get the idea!

What was the difference between a Diablo and a Donkis Nob, please?

And 18" - what size rider, roughly? Thanks!

Hi mate, not sure of the differences, although I think the diablo was a more of the peg frame, whereas the donki was more of a custom frame? I may be wrong? This is still hand built at Dave Yates workshop mind, I have the receipt stating £425 for frame and forks in 1993...... I'm six foot and this is great for me.

damn man, this shoulda been mine at the time... i dont ask the seller q's anymore, just hit that bin :)
could have afforded it then, but not now :(

Diablo was an off-the peg job.

Was available in Columbus Cromor or Max, and for a while in a special tubeset from Reynolds called 731, which Dave was the only one using. As far as I know it is basically 753 rear stays on a reinforced 531 front end.

Donkis knob was made to measure, with tubes from both manufacturers.
