this morning i parked next to a Land rover Discovery, both front in against a fence. i can look out of the tearoom window in my building and see the front of both vehicles all day.

the owner of the disco left work at approx 5pm. i leave at 6pm. as i walk out towards the van i walk towards it from the non driver side i notice a mark half way up the side door, i notice it because i can see where dirt has been rubbed away. the mark is the same height as a land rover bumper.

my guess is numpty (this guy is a short fat lazy smoking pratt who the company would dearly love to bin because of his sick record by the way) reversed out and as he turned the front right corner of his disco hit the side of the van leaving a long black mark that has also creased the skin of the door.

now i didn't see this but that has been the only vehicle next to the van all day.

i asked in our security office whose the vehicle was (but i already knew) so the woman there effectively knows the van has been damaged.

where do i stand?

how can i claim? if i can claim?

Check his bumper for damage/your paint on Monday morning to confirm your suspicions, then just tell him you saw him do it and drive away and if he doesn't front up for the damage threaten to report him to the police for leaving the scene of an accident.

Carl.

thing is i don't want the insurance involved unless i can prove it, frankly i'd rather pay myself than bugger up my no claims.

so frustrating, first time i have ever bought anything expensive and this pratt does this.

i will check the front of his disco tomorrow when i go in for nightshift, i start after him. i'll check for a mark on his bumper and the height of it compared to the crease in the door.

You're not making a claim, you're asking for advice. You won't lose your NCB for that.

No, but you will find insurance a bit more expensive in future, whether or not you "claim".

return in kind..ps its criminal damage..effectively failing to report an accident...its not an offence to not stop if no one is hurt or involved however..id tell him to his face and give him a chance to be a real man...if he doesnt then id phone his insurance firm up and sort it..

just spoke to the insurance company, unfortunately the nightshift saturday guy was the only one there  said to do what we have already said about doing but also said it would be hard to confirm whether he did it unless he owns up to it.

FFS.

i'm gonna check numpties front end tomorrow and go from there, if there are marks i'll ask him. knowing him though he'll deny all knowledge.
