cycling on the pavement

Being a cyclist and a dog owner I see both sides, however where I live it has a shared pedestrian and cycle path between a large grassed area and a hedge lined river, I try to keep my dogs to the grass as its fair to people that use the path but they are just animals following thier nose sometimes. I have had a small amount of incidents with 'cycling commuters' that seem to think they have right of way on a communal pathway and if my dog has ventured onto the path to cross for a hedge sniff I am often reminded that I should control my stupid dog, I then remind them that the dog is indeed stupid and that they are supposed to have the higher IQ and should perhaps preempt by slowing down from the 15+ mph that they have chosen to cycle at on a shared cycle/footpath.

I would like to add that I am clever enough to cycle with awareness on cyclepaths, main roads and bridleways. common sense is to always watch out for others as everybody else (and their dog) is an idiot, given chance most will apologise if they are out of order and the world is a better place without angry arguements.

My take on the Original thread title - Cycling on pedestrian footpaths is simply wrong and shouldnt be allowed.

plus I dont think deliveroo'ers should be classed as cyclists ..... they have a whole different set of god given rules.

Used to be quite fond of dogs - but there are so many badly socialised dogs (and owners) post covid now. My rural area is full of dogs that bark incessantly because they aren't used to people/other animals or even the outdoors and don't like being alone during the day. One of my neighbours' dogs is triggered by birds flying the sky or the branches on trees moving. Genuinely think we need a mass cull, and potentially of the owners too.

They also disturb wildlife - particularly on beaches - and crap every fooking where. Centuries from now, we'll come look at this present time as utterly barbaric because we allowed dogs to crap on our streets (regardless of whether the owner picks it up or not).
It's not just dogs that crap on the streets.

Here in York we have a lot of hen and stag parties.

They'll shit anywhere

And pigeons, they'll shit anywhere too, and foxes too... they too will shit anywhere.... and German sex parties.... let's not go there
All your new massive bollards in York should stop that terrorist behaviour.
