Cycle paths or road??

In all honesty it's a sad story. You are dammed if you do, dammed if you don't as a cyclist.

“The fixed penalty is not aimed at responsible cyclists who sometimes feel obliged to use the pavement out of fear of traffic and who show consideration to other pavement users when doing so.”

Is heartening for cyclists like myself and my family who opt for the pavement, but slow right down to avoid pedestrians or dismount completely if it is busy.

I even throw my cape over puddles when the need arises.

reading the comments is all a bit deja vu :roll:

It would be interesting to know just how many of the God-fearing great and good who contributed saying 'you can't pick and choose which rules to obey' haven't used their mobile phone while driving?

The comments started off fairly well-balanced but then it all got a bit mean;

Reminds me of the outrage expressed by the Ramblers Association when mountain biking first took off, OMG! What heathens we were!

MBUK responded by publishing a photo' of the THIRTY FOOT WIDE Pennine Way as opposed to the path it used to be before the Ramblers trampled it to bits... :roll:

Slightly off-topic, but in general people just have a thing about people who do something purely because its FUN!
