So, I went to the Cycle 2007 Cycle Show at Earls Court London today for a bit of a jolly on a Thursday.

Thought I'd share some observations and images from the highlights.

Well, I walked up the steps imagining it'd all be new 08 XTR Shadow groups and ever lighter and uglier full sussers with even more travel thatn before and I'd be out of there at lunchtime, full of free cake and tea and covered in stickers...

...but there was so much more. And so much more with a definate retro flavour.

Retro bikes are cool it would seem. I would call it Neo-Retro. But Retro- esque craftmanship is still more appealing to a lot of us than bland swirly graphics and scientifically proven anti bob devices right?

On a more modern note, it would appear a general theme aside from the olde fashion bycycle was white. Whiteness everywhere. Looks good (IMO). New DT (sort of Pace, but really DT) forks were gorgeous. Seven and Indie showing lovely steel and ti-ness as usual. A lot of carbon nicetyies too. But Steel is definately alive and kicking, even to the mainstream, if this expo was anything to go by. I know there's always a healthy steel underground and that can be seen in the emergence of events like the Handmade Bicycle convention in the states, but it's re-assuring to see it being re-aopted by the mainstream bike manufacturers too.

Well, here are a few of the 'Neo-Retro', 'Retro-Esque' and downright re-issued Retro goodies on display for the next few days. And a couple of 'oh so not that retro' too for your (ahem 'other' bikes...

And who did I see sporting an RB T-shirt?

Onl'y the King! Good on you Cannondale King - fly the Retrobike flag (slightly ashamed I wasn't - ahem...)

Enjoy...

:D

Thanks for that Gus. I'm going on Sat I think (only cos I got a freebie though!).

I'm hoping the new Yeti ASR carbon that should be on display there is not nice enough to persuade me to trade in my "old" alloy ASR ...
