Crazy UCI rule.

Any road pro with an ounce of vanity and notion of what a bike should look like won't have a problem. Triathletes though....

I'll be checking the "horizontality" of all my bikes later

"horizontality" ????

Honestly? Bikes look the way they do because the UCI dictate how they look through archaic rules like this one.

All the UCI do is stifle innovation and progress, claiming to level the playing field by introducing nonsense rules about saddles and bottles whilst being largely ineffective at combating the drug users who are really gaining the advantage in the sport.

I'd like to see a separate division of the sport unshackled by the UCI.

What's their beef, here - is it purely aesthetics, or is there some odd performance thing going on? I couldn't work out whether it was something to do with enforcing some sort of healthy usage?

Have to say, I'm a bit puzzled, I'd always adjusted saddle position for comfort reasons - and normally, more to do with how it feels after being on it for a few hours, as opposed to purely what feels OK when you initially sit on the bike.

Any steely-eyed-missile men (or women) explain this for me, as I'm not really getting why they're bothered? For the briefest period I did have to check whether the article was dated 1st April.

Neil - i think it/they are saying that riders with their seat at certain angles can possibly have an advantage over someone elses (incorrectly?) angled saddle.

Hahahaha.

anyway, this guys are just justifying the money spent on every meeting they have, now they have to hire more staff to enforce complying, someone will eventually get disqualified.. its more or less like F1 this days.
I suggest drug/urine tests after each time they decide one something.
