.......I crashed out riding yesterday for the first time is maybe 12 years

It was only minor but it meant me dismounting over the bars (shorts caught in gearshifer   ) and a barrel roll into the under growth

Despite bruised I was left laughing and was fortunate enough to be able to jump back on the bike.

Strange but I kind of found the whole thing more settling - crashing and not getting hurt.........

Not me but you get the idea........

.........settling and lucky. The body is a great thing

:D

shorts caught in gear shifters  that could have been

i know what you mean, I find the over the bars tumble into soft undergrowth crashes kind of reassuring, you get up and have a chuckle, everyone laughs at you and you jump straight back on and pedal off, but as a serial crasher, these only seem to make up about 60% of my falls. The over the bars slam into tarmac and scrape my way down the road kind of crashes are less funny, less confidence inspiring if you will.

I saw some poor bloke body slam a tree on wed on the migglymoos ride (google em for more info). propper rag doll thrown to the ground
I dont think about crashing very often... except when you see crashes like that!

every time i go off road i crash.last one bent me wheel beyond repair(am waiting for a 231cd from xizang so i can go do it again)whole chest still covered in bar end shaped bruises. cannondale king thought it was funny but didnt get it on film..never mind.

My mate had an over-the-bars experience about 4wks ago, did his ribs, just about recovered now.

Not looking confident:

Apologies about the lack of retro and the quality of the images

The first pic could have been me(it's not BTW) only a tree halted my forward momentum. To give you an idea, my broke lever struck the tree about 8 inches from the ground, my face hit the tree, my ribs were busted and I grazed the top of my thighs. Truly wrapped around the tree. Tried to absolutely slam a jump at glentress and the back wheel pogo'd straight in the air

thats almost exactly the same for me ..cept there was a bit more air involved.still cant lay down on my right side now.

I had two Ass Over Bars the other week...the first one fell into the 'everyone laughing at me, huge swathe of undergrowth flattened, got up and rode off' category, the second one, much less spectacular...I still got laughed at but broke two ribs on my handlebars
