Counterfeit Bike Components

I suppose i was a fool to think counterfeits didnt exist in the bike industry - where there is a lot of money to be made. Shame on them.

Its a tidy looking fake to be honest! The bolts are an obvious give away being way too long, but quite good looking none the less. Honestly, I wouldn't have been able to tell. Though I suspect I wouldnt have bought from such a shady vendor.

It would have been good to see the stem fail in the test rig though.

I will give it another bash later!

As one of the comments says below though, I'd have hoped a genuine Thomson stem would last a bit longer than 7.5 hours

Yeah that is pretty crazy really for the price. Im not sure what gives, we all know they last longer, maybe thats 7.5 hours with a yeti riding it in the test conditions?

As for the king, whats the difference apart from probable bearing quality?

Material quality? Cups could crack easier?

Thats a pretty tidy copy of a King though. Some very well executed fakes out there.
