Could anyone guess a date for this pretty old Edison cyclo-cross machine?

Firstly - where does one post cyclo-cross questions around here?! MTB or road? I'm clear it's not BMX at least :)

Anyway, how old does anyone think this is? I've ruined it with modern bits of course, sorry about that. It's still pretty tho, right?

I've seen the post on here about the other Edison roadie but not seen a cross bike like this one, and this looks much older to me. Right?

Cheers!

WOOF! Like that alot. Nowt wrong with modern and if the levers were a little daintier it would be perfick. An 80's into 90's frame i reckon.
Thanks, yeah she's pretty eh. I've just found there's an 80s road frame on Ebay that looks pretty similar so I now guess 80s, tho the lugs on this look older to me, who knows very little about such things...

Very nice – and always good to see a frame like that being put to good use (i.e not having flat bars and/or a front rack ;)).

To make a possibly somewhat sweeping generalisation, the style of lugged frames hasn't varied that much over the years, so a lugged frame from the 50s can feasibly not be that different from an 80s one (I mean in terms of the lugs themselves, not things like braze-ons or rear spacing, etc).

Yup, that's my position. I sold a Hetchins recently tho and it appeared that their fan boys could narrow down the date to a few days by the lugs :)
