Coogan no longer impressed with Top Gear...

I'm offended.

Most jokes make fun of a group of people. And long may it continue.

With all the environmental concern of late, where are the bicycles?

I can see it now, Jeremy Clarkson presents Fixed Gear. Track stands or bike on rollers rather than seats...

Off to draft a proposal for the beeb.

you mean on the US special? that looked pretty scary! or maybe exagerated? they looked truly dumbstruck when they hit New Orleans though.
Staged is far more likely ;)
An old college friend of mine told me that his work colleague was very disillusioned when he was in the audience for one of the Top Gear episodes -- apparently, if the audience doesn't laugh loudly enough at the witty one-liners, they're re-told until the audience does laugh loudly enough.... :?

Half and half.

Nope. S'all it warranted though.

I get it, though - jokes are only funny when they're not pointing and laughing at you...

On a related issue, this is where I feel Clarkson and his stupidity do harm in society. He does wield influence - there's plenty of sheep-ish sycophants that take his opinion as gospel - hell, you've even got to look at how "the help" on the show behave for pay...

A big eye opener for me, recently, was the footage of the cyclist in traffic, who had an "altercation" with traffic. Now I know empathy is often a two-way street - I get that, and I suspect none of the major road users can really lay claim to the moral high ground (at least in terms of on road behaviour) - but all the same, cyclists are probably the most vulnerable of road users - yet reading the comments on the BBC page was quite a shocker for me.

In years gone by, I'd have expected the (many) comments to have least appeared more of a balanced take, but I read so many comments that could easily have been Clarkson spouting complete rubbish on TG, I kinda wondered if he had too much time on his hands.

If the many comments on that BBC page about the footage / incident / prosecution are anything to go by, cyclists who use the road, these days, are an endangered species, with an increasing attitude of bile from other road users. Clarkson's ignorant rants about cyclists and his sphere of influence, I suspect, are wielding more influence, than some hapless joke for the hard of thinking.

And I'm not saying this as some Clarkson or TG hater - I used to enjoy TG and Clarkson's in-character persona, when they're were actually good at it, and the hype hadn't become too influential.
