Fifty notes for two! :shock: You could buy a reasonable road frame off the bay for that! and you certainly could for the $250 you'd need to spend on the Pauls brakes. :roll:

I was also looking for a way to do this conversion, as my frame and fork will take 50mm wide 29er tyres front AND back (Kona Humu with 26 inch Surly 1x1 fork).

The Surly fork has a disc mount, but I haven't figured out a solution for the back brake.

Neither the Mavic nor Pauls method will work at the back with a fat 700C tyre :cry: but BOTH WILL work fine with narrower "touring" type 700C tyres.

* The Mavic adapter plate (which I have) is only wide enough for touring tyres.

* The Pauls Moto BMX brake does not have enough clearance under the "straddle wire" (or whatever that cable is called on V-brakes) for "proper" 29er tyres. That's according to a recent thread on MTBR, anyway.

that looks like a a solution, ... and they look like a booster..
read the Onza stories...but i`ve found a old set of Acor`s with a long arm, that looks like they might reach...(if they brake, ..i`ll live..as long as they`ll not get tangled up in the wheel..)
running 23mm roadtires so clearence`s not a issue...
it`s worth a try...and if i deside to make i pemanent, the mavic is an option..
thanks for the feedback, an i`ll let you know if the Acors will do ...

The easy way is to shove in a cheap 700c Canti fork - most shops (like ours have them kicking around and let them go for a few quid, them slap on a Mavic Convertor lik above - I have one in the garage - still in packaging if some wants it for £15 POSTED - BRAND NEW!! (PM ME)
