I popped out for my 50 minute lunchtime spin out from Staines and back today, riding what I've decided will be my winter bike, Cyfac "Raleigh" Super U wearing my usual Super U jersey over winter jacket.
Stopped at the lights by Staines Bridge, a chap crossing the road looked twice and asked me "vous etes Francais?", to which I replied, "non, Anglais avec un obsession pour Laurent Fignon". The chap then told me that the team had been "near my 'ouse en France, c'est un bon velo".
Pleased as punch I pedalled off towards Sunningdale and caught up with a chap called Steve from Ashford on a Chas Roberts who told me "I've seen you out before, couldn't mistake or forget a beautiful old bike like that".
I've not been flattered like that in ages, it was a pleasant surprise that people even notice, it made my day!

Very nice

I rode my recently finished Pinarello to work yesterday and today, I parked it in a stand on the shop floor and I swear more people showed interest in my Pinny than any modern bike we sell
So many compliments from old and young folk...and plenty of "Is this for sale?" questions

Great isn't it!! I did the rides around Donington Park towards the end of last season. I was getting coments going round the circuit, and when I was pulled over in the pits. The carbons stuff, unless it's something very special, doesn't cause a stir at all. It's the same when I have turned up for local TT's on steel - lots of questions!!

I took my 1983 De Rosa Super Prestige in all it's pantographed glory into Evans Cycles, as I wanted a light. They completely ignored it......Philistines! :D
