Re:

From what my daughter told me, accommodation has been the one let down; not the lack of it, but the prices.

She stayed in a really nice B&B which was sensibly priced, but they saw prices in the region of £400 per night at a Travel Lodge and in excess of £1000 at other hotels that would be lucky to get £50 per night in normal circumstances.

I'm all for supply and demand and a healthy profit, but at what point does it become gouging / profiteering.

If it's too high people won't pay, end of story. There's hundreds of tents pitched in Pollok Park which I assume are there so poor people can come to Glasgow too. We're all for inclusion here.

I worked in Glasgow a couple of years ago deep inside the telephone exchanges for the city. The central ones gave a fine view over over the city centre nightlife and it looked quite fun. Clean too until you ventured out a bit...

Can't we all just get along?

My apologies to those who made reasonable posts in reply to the argument, but I had to remove those too.
They wouldn't make sense anymore with the original posts being gone.

@ Technodup and HLF : If you really want to resort to insults and personal attacks, do so via PM.

Re:

The road race was fairly dramatic, but I have to concur with Boardman and note another opportunity wasted to show some of Scotland's finest scenery. Overall a great games though, and didn't we do well? All the home nations performed excellently.

Re:

For once I have to agree with the flyer and commented to my family that rather than making it a city centre road race, they could have easily headed out into some pretty impressive countryside close by.

Never the less, a cracking couple of races, especially G's heart stopping moment.

Re:

I think they should take note for the next Olympics and stop segregating the Paralympians. That is one thing I really liked about these games.

Yup, that had me worried for a bit....the perils of neutral service I guess, rather than mechanics you know like the back of your hand.

No doubt the discerning South Wales cycling fan will have marked the historic occasion by "aggregation of marginal Brains" down at their local. ;)
