I decided to catch the train over to my new workshop this afternoon with my bike so I could pick my car up.
I get on the train and the it is not scheduled to stop at Amberley only the stop before, Arundel. I decided it was a nice day so I might as well do part of Gus's loop backwards that lead to the arse end of nowhere where my workshop is.
I ride along quite content taking in the scenery and thinking how lucky I am to have the wind behind me.. carry on down the no-though road to traffic and trundle off down the bridleway over the 1st nice new river bridge... follow the river.. negotiate the singletrack bit.. turn to cross the second foot bridge.. nearly there now I can see where I heading 1mile in the distance.... and low and behold there is a huge tree slammed down across it and it has partially collapsed.
This may seem a little thing but the foot bridge is the only direct link to where I heading as the river valley is all marshland and no roads left or right for miles.. which are across the marshland. Option one, ride 4 miles back to Arundel and catch the train, option two is to follow the side of the river along across private land I know the owner so decided to take that option... 45mins later after a general push and mud plug (and seeing the train that actually stops at Amberley pass in the distance) I figured option two was not such a good plan.
NOTE TO GUS IF HE IS OFF ON NIGHT BAIKU.. BRIDGE IS DOWN.
Currently enjoying a nice Coffee.. Still happy and the ride is in the top ten rides of my life.. LOL
