Chappie began making road frames, and then had a short lived dabble with MTB frames, bringing roadie type brazing and tube choices.

Merlin (if it's the same) was an old roadie company that was bought out by Bob Jackson donkies years ago.

I don't think they were still around by late 80s early 90s when that looks to be from, but maybe he resurrected the 'Merlin' brand intending to do a range of MTBs, but the idea was short lived?

Only guessing, but if that's the case, then I think it would make a great stable mate to my Zinn in an historical context...
