Colnago master and modern campy cranks

Hi all,

Apologies for the newbie question firstly. Ive picked up a colnago master frame, which i think is from the 90's but could be wrong and was wondering if the modern record 11 cranks would work well with the bottom bracket tubes with the clover leaf hole in?

I guess im worried about water/debris entering through the hole and causing damage. Anyone able to shed some light on this for me?

Thanks

There are seals in place to try to stop ingress of water into the bearings. Also if water does get in it can dry out if left standing somewhere warm.

Spray a rustprevention oil like FluidFilm in the stays. Personally I think an open shell is good. Frames I had my hands on that were rusted through hadn't an open shell.

Oh i should have realised that, holes can be useful!

thanks for all the replies, cannot wait to build this bike up now, a dream frame since i started riding in the 80's.

HOWEVER!!!!!

Depending how much you will be using it in the rain.

Place I worked last year, we found that Ultra-torque BBs bearings had a disappointing lifespan during wet summers.

Be sure to coat the exterior of the sealed bearings with some seriously waterproof grease before fitting.
