Colnago - Just bought a tatty one & advice appreciated!

Hi

I have just purchased this tatty bike from ebay because I never find one in a skip!

I primarily bought it for its pedals and to renovate – but as my first project, it may be a bit much – so I may re-sell it depending on the answers to my questions.

If anybody would care to add their twopeneth I would much appreciate.

The frame has 23316 and eo L stamped into it

What model and year is it?

I know this will vary, but approximately how much would it cost to have the frame stripped to metal and a high quality paint job done?

Do people re chrome all the components, nuts and bolts etc or is it more cost effective to hunt for replacements? (I have no idea how much re –chroming costs)

If I decide not to go ahead is the bike worth more sold as parts or as a project?

It doesn't look like a Colnago to me.
Any indication as to bottom bracket threads? It doesn't even look Italian.

A Colnago wouldn't have mudguard eyelets.

Sadly Not a Colnago,Hopefully you picked it up cheaply and really wanted the pedals.

To give you an idea on cost.
Can be done cheaper,depending on where you are based,I use Universal Cycles in Rotherham but I have been taking frames to Dave for years so get a good price.
Chrome plating prices have been rising steadily recently due to new environmental legislation,and unless you have something very rare or very deep pockets not worth doing anymore.
I now pay £80 for full forks for instance.

Hopefully you can find a nice project,I still find nice bikes at boot sales,in the local paper and even at the tip(sorry Re-cycling center )

I did wonder as Colnago (or the little club logo) is not stamped anywhere.

Looks like pedals and bits off - may be a good skip find for someone!

Looks at first glance like a old British steel racer that someone's stuck a Colnago decal on some years ago. You'll need to post a lot more detailed pictures on here of the lugs, BB, dropouts etc. and somebody might be able to tell you what it actually is. Until then, impossible to say whether it's worthwhile renovating. However, on the bikes I've renovated, I've usually spent more money on the parts and renovation than I could ever hope to get back if sold. So don't expect to make a profit. Depends how much passion you have for whatever it proves to be.
