still wondering why you're considering two different rim diameters?

I was under the impression that 26'' wheels are generally stronger than normal 700c, and 29ers are generally stronger than normal 700c rims. I've never managed to have a normal road 700c wheel stay true on my for more than 4 months of commute (8 miles daily on average/bad road), so I thought this time I'd get something solid.

Is there something wrong with with this thinking?

Thanks!

yeah, you may have trouble fitting 700c/29" wheels in a mtb and vice vers.

I have seen 700c wheels fitted to a modern MTB frame, but only with 35c tyres and obviously only with disc brakes. Not much clearance.

Ah - I thought 26'' wheels could fit into a 700c frame, with enough adjustment in the v brakes to cater for difference in wheel size, but looks like I'm wrong! Saved me from a bit of a tight spot!

Nav-the-noob!

not unless you get the brake bosses moved :?

I have a 25.4mm DMR post in black, quite burly tho!

Incidentally I bought a new pair of M750 non-disc hubs on Mavic A119 rims for my CX / tourer last year on eBay, IIRC they were 135 delivered and very nice they are too. They will take a 28-37mm tyre, so that would possibly be a good set to look out for s/hand :?:

good luck, Al
