Claud Butler Corrado - NOS brakes, shifters, fully rebuilt

Hiya all

I have restored this CB Corrado as a bit of a project that got ever-deeper but I didn't want to give up. Started with a seized seatpost that needed dissolving out and ended up being a full strip and rebuild of everything. Seemed too good to end up in landfill, maybe because it reminded me of my first MTB back in the day.

Work done includes:

Full strip of everything back to single bits, thorough clean, regrease and assembly incl. BB using Copaslip.
NOS 6-spd ST-CT90 rear shifter
New seatpost (obvs)
New Shimano freewheel
New chain
NOS brakeset to replace the Altus made-of-soft-cheese-grey-plastic-spring-retainer-hand-grenades originally fitted
All new cables
Weinmann Alesa alloy rims on Sachs hubs, with virtually no wear on either

Serial number D698244

I have no clue as to what this is 'worth', but want it to go to a good home where it will be appreciated for the (guessing?) '95-'97 thing that it is.

Any advice on year of build appreciated - CT90 was '95-'97 according to chez Wiki, but how does this match with the serial number?

Opinions on rough value, and indeed offers to buy most welcome. Am in Whitchurch, Hants. Happy to post for £30, properly boxed.

Cheers

Mike

Hi
I've just seen one of these for sale locally, do you know if it's a Reynolds frame?
Definitely not 653 which is the Reynolds tubing used at the top end in 95/96
This bike didn’t make the catalogues so probably low end. Might be Reynolds Cro-mo…
Ps did you post recently on the Claud Butler Retro MTB’s FB page recently?

Hi Mike, can I ask how you came about the bicycle and when as I had a Corrado similar to this taken from outside my flat in Westcliff Essex in the summer of 2005. It was bought from either Home Shopping of Littlewoods or Peter Craig, I had it whilst at my current property in Shoeburyness for a number of years prior. I did have photographs at one point, and I did report it into the police and the house insurance company at the time. It was never found, returned or anything similar. It had Michelin tyres at the time, I had them done at Halfords down the road of this residence. I really would appreciate an urgent reply no matter what - thank you kindly, David

David, this member (Mike) has not been seen since 2016 so don’t hold your breath.
