I think he just meant the boiler-plate, sure-fire replacement stems that where the standard of the day. I think he's right...Syncros, Control Tech and A-TAC were the three quality standards of the time (with Ritchey and Salsa thrown in to represent the steel fans). Sure some of the others listed here were available, but folks like Machine Tech were hardly successful, nor considered as true purpose built components. Ringle would get an honorable mention from me, if only because of the number that snapped like twigs.

The IRD Ricky Racer stem was bad-ass looking too, but the things were barely functional. Mine was functionally a total POS...


...that said, if anybody is selling one... 8) :lol:
