Change down into lowest click and push out backwards, takes a bit of wiggling sometimes.

I've seen fake shimano cables off amazon.
Only buy off a known cycle retailer.

Some of the fakes are so bad, we've had customers trying to buy a new shifter, cos it doesn't work with their new cable🤯

There's more and more counterfeit basic components like chains, derailleurs, it's hard to see how it's worth it when the genuine parts aren't expensive.
At least now they get the spelling right🤣

Just why i have a couple of you guys here. I wanted to search the whole forum for this and start a whole new thread on it if i didn't find anything, but i just thought i would quickly ask now. Do any of you guys know whether your still able buy the old school style 2mm thick inner brake cable?

And is it still possible to buy the 90's style MTB thicker (as in diameter) cable housing for brake cable and shifters?
(I hate the newer thinner more plastic feel cable housing with plastic end caps that you have to buy now, although i have read its meant to be better). Sorry for all the wrong terminology you can tell me a newbie to the MTB restoration world.

Final question, on my current build a 92 scott, they have used the flexy thicker cable housing where you can see the coil under the plastic for the shifter cable housing as well as the brake cable housing, was this a done thing in the 90's or was there seperate cable housing, so none coil style housing cable for the shifter cables and then coil style for brake cable?

I can upload a image if what i wrote doesn't make sense
